Jonathan Lassen

Jonathan Lassen is a Senior Environmental Consultant at Sillito Environmental Consulting (SEC). He holds an Advanced Diploma in Marine Science from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and is a Candidate Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAPASA) and a Full Member of the International Association for Impact Assessment South Africa (IAIAsa).

Jonathan joined SEC in 2024 and has experience managing and coordinating a broad range of environmental authorisation processes across South Africa. His expertise includes Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Basic Assessment processes, Scoping and Environmental Impact Reporting (S&EIR), Environmental Authorisation Amendments, Section 24G applications, Applicability Checklists, Environmental Management Programmes (EMPs), and environmental compliance monitoring. He also oversees public participation processes and coordinates specialist studies, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with applicable environmental legislation and best practice.

Passionate about environmental stewardship and sustainable development, Jonathan is committed to delivering practical, scientifically robust, and regulatory-compliant solutions that balance responsible development with the protection of South Africa’s natural resources. He strives to foster positive environmental outcomes while supporting clients through complex environmental processes.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys spending time outdoors and has a keen interest in fishing, kayaking, boating, and exploring South Africa’s coastal and marine environments.
